About us

CHEMATEC is a Danish, second-generation family-owned company dedicated to improving indoor air quality through precision-engineered tools and scientific innovation.
Established in 1985 by Poul Erik Sørensen, CHEMATEC has for nearly 40 years developed and produced the original FLEC® (Field and Laboratory Emission Cell) system and a full range of accessories — trusted by professionals, researchers, and institutions worldwide.

In 2023, CHEMATEC merged with Rossing Data ApS, owned by Henrik Rossing, son of the company’s founder. This fusion strengthened CHEMATEC’s digital capabilities, global presence, and commitment to continuous innovation — combining decades of scientific expertise with modern data-driven solutions.

Our vision is simple:
Healthier buildings for everyone — at home, at work, and in public spaces.

Our mission is to design and manufacture reliable, user-friendly instruments that help measure and understand emissions from materials and surfaces in indoor environments.
We combine deep technical expertise, continuous innovation, and close collaboration with researchers and customers to stay at the forefront of the indoor air quality field.

Today, CHEMATEC’s products are used by:

  • Building material manufacturers and quality control departments
  • Environmental consultants and laboratories
  • Public authorities and research institutions around the world

Applications range from product development and emission testing to compliance verification and indoor air research.

CHEMATEC collaborates closely with leading international research organizations — including the Danish National Research Centre for the Working Environment, the Danish Building Research Institute, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and the Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut (WKI) in Germany — to ensure that FLEC® remains the global standard for emission testing under ISO 16000-10 and related standards.

Through innovation, quality, and long-term partnerships, CHEMATEC continues to set the benchmark for indoor air measurement solutions.
